The word chakra is a Sanskrit term that means “wheel.” In the yogic tradition, these wheels of energy can become blocked or imbalanced and affect our physical, mental and emotional well-being. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of chakras, it’s worth taking some time to learn more about this ancient practice.

Often mispronounced, as shakra, with the sh sound heard in words like “shake” and “shave,” the first syllable in chakra is actually pronounced cha, with the ch sound heard in words like “batch” and “crunch,” while the “a” in both syllables is pronounced with the uh sound. Putting it all together, the correct pronunciation is chuh-kruh.

What are Chakras?

Chakras are energy centres in the body that help us connect with our spirituality. They’re located along the spine, starting at the base of your back by your tailbone- your Root chakra, and ending at your crown (at the top of your head). There are seven main chakras, but there are many more than that (114 in total); each resides in a different place in our body and has its own colour and purpose.

When they’re working properly, these centres allow you to feel energised and happy–you’ll often notice that when you’re feeling good about yourself or life in general, these areas will be open and flowing freely with energy. But if something is blocking them–like stress or negative emotions–it can cause problems throughout most parts of our bodies because this flow connects everything!

What happens if my Chakras are blocked?

If your chakras are blocked or not functioning optimally, it can cause physical, mental and emotional symptoms. The most common ones include fatigue, depression, anxiety, lack of motivation and insomnia. You might also notice low energy levels or even feel overwhelmed by small things that wouldn’t normally bother you. When a chakra is low in energy, you’ll have difficulty expressing the particular qualities associated with that chakra.

The cause of chakra blocks is sometimes stress or trauma–like an accident or illness, but often they arise spontaneously as a result of other negative experiences in life, poor physical alignment or posture, eating unhealthy food, or self-destructive behaviour.

How can I unblock my Chakras myself?

There are several ways to work on unblocking your Chakras yourself and increasing the energy flow – here are three of my favourites.

Yoga. Yoga is another excellent way to connect with your body and mind in a gentle manner. As well as relaxing, yoga postures help channel energy throughout the body so that all seven chakras are balanced properly.

Breathwork. Chakra Breathwork involves calm and controlled breathing into each chakra, focusing your energy on the location of each chakra and breathing into that area and imagining it clearing and opening whilst chanting the associated mantra of each chakra.

Meditation. Meditation is a great way to clear your mind and focus on the present moment. When you become more attuned to yourself, it’s easier to identify what may be blocking your Chakras.

Reiki Chakra Healing Therapy is another way to balance and align your body.

Reiki Chakra Healing Therapy is a way to balance and align your body. Combining the ancient Japanese practice of Reiki with the charka system, It’s based on the idea that the body has seven main energy centres or chakras, which can become blocked or imbalanced. When this happens, we experience physical symptoms such as pain, fatigue, lack of motivation, self-esteem issues, inability to be authentic, etc. But with proper treatment–and by unblocking these chakras–you can return to feeling yourself once again.

Reiki Chakra Healing uses soft touch (if in person, but can be done via distance) and sometimes crystals or other healing tools like essential oils or singing bowls to unblock your chakras so they flow freely again. This allows more energy through them and helps bring you back into balance physically, emotionally and spiritually (the three aspects of being). A trained practitioner is attuned to the subtle energy of each Chakra and can pick up on what may be causing the blockage and clear it for you.

Conclusion

Reiki Chakra Healing Therapy is a way to balance and align your body. The chakras are energy centres that run along the spinal cord, from the base of your spine to the top of your head. Each chakra has its own colour and purpose, so it can be helpful to know what yours look like before starting a healing process.
